Studium Generale Debate Cafe: Is Sharing Really Caring? The Pros and Cons of the Sharing Economy

Everybody nowadays is familiar with Uber, Airbnb, and other examples of the so-called sharing economy. While the principle of sharing sounds intriguing and the potentials seem to be overwhelming, we must not forget about the risks that emerge with it.

This Debate Café will discuss the pros and cons of the sharing economy. (How) does the sharing economy create new opportunities for consumers and entrepreneurs? Will it change the future of how we do business? What are the consequences for economy? And how about labor law, workers’ rights and consumer protection? Does a platform provide only an online service or in fact the underlying service itself?

Join the Debate Café on Monday 20 November at 8 pm and listen to our guest speakers while they discuss these issues, and join in on the discussion yourself.
